After seeing these complexes, we went to Wat Pho, the home of the enormous Reclining Buddha. We will board a long tail boat for a journey along the Chao Phraya River and the many busy inner canals, which give spectacular views of local life up close. We stop along route to Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, before having lunch at a floating restaurant. We will travel to Wat Traimit, also known as the Golden Buddha, in the afternoon.
Returning to the hotel, you are free to rest.
There are several floating markets around the nation, with the majority located within two hours of the capital. The merchants at these vibrant marketplaces paddle strong boats packed with fresh produce through clogged canals in order to sell their wares to consumers on the banks. There is a lot of discussion and activity; haggling is popular; it’s all part of the enjoyment; but, you shouldn’t expect to negotiate the price more than a few baht.
Damnoen Saduak, approximately 100 kilometers southwest of Bangkok, is the most renowned of the floating marketplaces. This bustling market is at its peak in the early morning, before the day’s heat and throng come. Our itinerary also includes a stop to the reputedly biggest pagoda in Southeast Asia, Phra Pathom Chedi in Nakorn Pathom.
