This short adventure to the best eco-tourism destinations in the north of Vietnam. Travelers will have opportunities to explore diverse biosphere in Ba Be Lake, jaw-dropping Ban Gioc waterfall, and magnificent Halong Bay, a well-known UNESCO Heritage site in Vietnam.
Ba Be Lake is Vietnam’s largest freshwater lake. By boat, you can explore some breathtaking landscapes and stunning limestone karsts. Observe the daily lives of the Tay and Hmong minority groups.
The next stop on your interesting trip is Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of Vietnam’s most impressive attractions. With a height of 30 meters and a width of 300 meters, this waterfall will not disappoint any intrepid traveler to Northeast Vietnam.
A cruise to Halong Bay – UNESCO World Heritage Site is a must-do on your Vietnam vacation. You will have unforgettable memories of boat-based sightseeing and dining on delectable dishes prepared by world-class chefs.
Lang Son is known as a province in the Northeast region of our country, with two international border gates: Dong Dang railway station border gate and Huu Nghi road border gate. With mainly mountainous terrain, a dense system of rivers and streams creates fertile valley fields.
When you arrive at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport, IDC Travel’s tour guide and driver will greet you at the airport exit gate and escort you to Hanoi downtown with a brief introduction. Check in at the hotel.
The rest of the day is free to explore the city.
AM: Depart Hanoi at 07.30 a.m. for Ba Be town (240 kilometers), stopping for lunch along the way. We arrive in Ba Be around 2:30 p.m. Relax by staying in a local homestay.
Take your time exploring Ba Be Lake, Vietnam’s largest natural lake with a system of majestic limestone karsts, caves, and rock formations. You can either walk or cycle around Coc Toc Village at this time, kayak on the lake, or simply relax and enjoy the scenery.
PM: Your host will prepare a delicious dinner of local specialties.
Following breakfast, we travel to Bo Lu Harbor for a boat ride around Ba Be Lake. You will be able to admire the stunning views of mountains, rivers, and caves from the river’s banks. As a sanctuary for various flora and fauna species, you can relax in a tranquil place with birds singing and butterflies perched on flowers. The boat will also take you to Puong Cave, which has a variety of stalactites and stalagmites.
We leave for Cao Bang in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Cao Bang city.
You can take pictures of grand mountains, forests, and terraced rice fields on the way to Ban Gioc. Stop at a well-known village of blacksmiths where you can buy some good knives and scissors.
Get to the Ban Gioc waterfall around lunch. Ban Gioc is the largest waterfall in Vietnam. It is on the Quay Son River. You can take pictures of one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Vietnam when you go here, and you can also learn about the Nung, Dao, and H’mong ethnic hill tribes.
We will go to Nguom Ngao cave in the afternoon, which is 4 km from Ban Gioc waterfall. If you go deeper into the cave, you’ll be amazed by all the unique stalagmites and stalactites that look like corals, lotus flowers, candles, terraced rice fields, and other things.
Turn around and drive back to our hotel in Cao Bang city for the night.
We drive 150 km to Lang Son in the morning. On That Khe Pass, we stop to take pictures. After lunch, we go to Nhi Thanh Cave, Tam Thanh Pagoda, and Dong Kinh market, which is the biggest market in the area and where you can buy specialties from the area.
Spend the night in a hotel in Lang Son.
After driving from Lang Son to Halong Bay for 4 hours, you’ll get on a boat for an overnight trip. Enjoy a delicious Vietnamese lunch while sailing to Bai Tu Long bay via the Dong Duong (Indochina) film studio, Teapot islet, Blockhouse islet, and Goat Head islet. Fishing or kayaking would be available upon request.

Between 7:30 and 8:00 am, you can have breakfast outside and then go to Surprise Cave.
At 10:15, we start serving brunch. Keep going through the bay and seeing more of the interesting rock formations.
At 11:45 a.m., check out of your cabin and start heading back.
We’ll be back on land by noon, at 12:00, and then drive back to Hanoi at around 4:00.
Stay in a Hanoi hotel for the night.
Enjoy a hotel breakfast. Depending on when your flight is, you might have time to do some more shopping. Then we’ll take you to the airport to catch your flight back home.
