Idyllic Journey to Northern Vietnam in 6 days will take you to the region’s most well-known sites. These include Hanoi’s thousand-year-old capital, the lyrical Mai Chau, the famed World Heritage Site of Halong Bay, and the breathtaking beauty of Ninh Binh.
At 8:00a.m., our driver and tour guide from Vietnam IDC Travel will meet you at your Hanoi hotel. Depart towards Hoa Binh, stopping along the road at several excellent photo opportunities. We also stop at a small market of the Muong Ethnic Minority to learn about their everyday lives and customs; and experience the breathtaking beauty of Thung Khe Pass.
We arrive at Mai Chau – Lac Village around lunchtime and settle into our home stay/hotel. Following that, we will have lunch in a nearby village or restaurant.
After lunch and a little break, we will go on a bicycle ride with our tour guide to visit farmers working in fields and locals weaving scarves to learn about weaving in the traditional technique. We will be able to practice and purchase the goods before continuing to bike through calm villages.
Free time to go about and shop before dinner (optional to eat dinner and see the Thai traditional dance and drink the traditional wine “ruou can”).
Overnight stay in a remote village/hotel
In the morning: After breakfast, we travel towards Pu Luong over a breathtaking mountain pass that provides a panoramic view of the entire valley, where we will roam about and admire the gorgeous countryside before lunch.
In the afternoon: We begin our descent into the lovely valley where you may wander along cascading rice terraces. Trek via narrow pathways cloaked in foliage until you reach a lovely settlement at the foot of a magnificent mountain. Your camera will be unable to remain steady!
As you make your way to the valley’s bottom, you’ll pass through roads and farms, communities and untamed fields, ponds and rivers, mountains and open space. Enjoy the ever-changing environment as you hike to a wonderful location. Then you’ll be taken back to your home stay/retreat for dinner and an overnight stay.
We drive to Cuc Phuong National Park for lunch after breakfast.
In the afternoon, we explore the Cave of Early Man (which dates back over 7000 years) and appreciate the main forest, which includes a 1000-year-old tree.
We go to the Endangered Primate Rescue Center after breakfast. Then we travel to Ninh Binh, where we take a small boat to see Tam Coc, which translates as “Three Caves.” Tam Coc truly has it all, with HaLong-style vistas of towering limestone cliffs and enigmatic but welcoming caverns, as well as rural landscapes like quiet streams, rice paddies, and desolate green fields.
Restaurant lunch
In the afternoon, we head to Bich Dong Pagoda.
The Thung Nham resort is the next stop, where you will be greeted by a plethora of flowers growing from the Valley’s gates. We will visit the Bird Valley and see how wonderful it is in the center of the city of Hoa Lu Town has 1 such quiet valley with various types of birds such as egrets, cranes, and many more.
Return to the hotel to unwind.
We leave after breakfast for Ha Long Bay, arriving at approximately 12:00 pm.
When you arrive in Ha Long, our team will greet you with a welcome drink and check you into your cabin. A seafood lunch will be served, and at 13:00, a 3.5 hour cruise in Halong Bay will begin, visiting the amazing limestone karsts such as the Mat Qui (monster’s face), But Moc, and Cap De islets; the Trong (Drum) and Trinh Nu caves, and the unique way of life in a floating fishing village, culminating with the opportunity to explore the Luon cave from 16:40 to 17:30. There will be plenty of time to swim and sunbathe, as well as have a delicious sunset supper and relax under the stars before retiring to the luxury of your cabin. (Because most cruise itineraries are similar, the precise cruise name and itinerary will be reconfirmed based on your preferences.)
With a cup of tea or coffee and some fresh fruit, early risers may enjoy the tranquil morning view of the bay’s surroundings. The splendor of the rocky islands rising from the bay’s crystal-clear seas is magnificent from the top deck of the boat. The birds singing and cicadas chirping on shore, together with the soft lapping of the waves against the boat, create the ideal music to match the sensation of peace and the fresh, mild breezes.
From 8 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., visit the Sung Sot (Amazing) cave, then swim and rest at Titop beach. From 10:30 to 11:30 a brunch buffet will be provided on the return ship, which will arrive back at the harbor by noon for the trip back to Hanoi.
