Laos is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Asia. Laos is a great place for luxury explorers, backpackers, and independent travelers to go because it has stunning natural beauty, mist-covered mountain peaks, jungle valleys full of wildlife, and fascinating Buddhist culture. There are places you can not miss here.
Xieng Khouang, A destination that tourists cannot miss when coming to this place. Here, the myth of the mysterious jars field along with the wild colors and fresh nature is the reason why tourists from all over the world are extremely interested in this place. Vang Vieng is a small town about 150km from the capital Vientiane. This place is famous for its peaceful countryside landscape, cool fresh air, slow but not boring pace of life of local people. Vang Vieng is not too famous for food, shopping or performing arts, but it is the first choice for those who love to explore wild nature and active games such as climbing, kayaking, skiing.
Luang Prabang is the former capital of Laos and the center of culture and religion for the Laotian people. It has monasteries, monuments, traditional costumes, old French, and beautiful scenery. Vientiane is the capital of Laos, which is on a bend in the Mekong River and shares a border with Thailand.
Pakse, known as Pakxe and is the charming capital of Champasak province in the south of Laos. This is also the second most popular city in the country, many tourists stop here to visit places like Bolaven Plateu or Si Phan Don Islands.
You will meet our tour guide at the Luang Prabang International Airport and be taken to your hotel. After you have had time to rest, we will head out on bicycles to see some of Luang Prabang’s best sights. One of these is the Royal Palace Museum, which has a lot of interesting artifacts from the time when Luang Prabang was ruled by the Royal family.
As we ride on, we see the city’s oldest temples, including the beautiful Wat Xiengthong, whose low-sloping roof is a classic example of Lao architecture, the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun, and the shrine of Wat Aham.
Your evening is free, so you can check out the town and night market, or you can just hang out at the hotel.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.
We start the day by going to the Big Brother Mouse shop in town to pick out some kids’ books for our trip to the village. Then, we drive north on Route 13, then take a road to Ban Khia Luang. Here, you’ll have plenty of time to go to the school, play with the kids, and watch them enjoy their new books. You’ll also see women in the village weaving and going to the local temple.
We can have a western picnic lunch or a traditional Lao meal of sticky rice, lap, and fresh vegetables cooked by the villagers.
As we leave the village and drive to Ban Khoklin, we see some beautiful mountain scenery and paddy fields. At Ban Khoklin, we get on a private boat that goes 30 minutes down the Nam Ou River to the Pak Ou Caves.
There are thousands of gold-painted Buddha statues in these caves, which have been used as a pilgrimage site for thousands of years. We will get back to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon after we keep going down the Mekong River.

After breakfast back at the hotel, we start our trip to Kuang Si Waterfall, stopping along the way to see the morning Phousi Market, where all the people of Luang Prabang come to do their daily shopping. Besides chickens, fish, vegetables, and fruit, you will also see dried buffalo skin, local tea, and saltpeter. These are all things that people in Laos use every day.
When you get to the Kuang Si Falls, you can swim in the topaz pools below the falls to cool off, walk along the forest trails, and visit the Bear Sanctuary.
When you get back to Luang Prabang in the afternoon, you can go out and explore or just hang out at the hotel.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Today, we get up early and drive through beautiful scenery to the province of Xiengkhouang, where the Plain of Jars is. Along the way, you can take a lot of beautiful pictures and stop at a couple of hill tribe villages.
After you check into your Phonsavan hotel, you’ll have time to walk around town, go to the MAG Centre, or just relax with a drink at the hotel.
Overnight in Xiengkhouang.
We’re going to the Plain of Jars this morning. Along the way, we will stop at Sites 1, 2, and 3, as well as a Tai Dam and Lao Leum village.
After lunch, we drive on to see the old capital of Muang Khoun and the Hmong hill tribe and Tai Dam villages in the area.
Overnight in Xiengkhouang.
On our way out of town this morning, we’ll have time to stop at the interesting Phonsavan Central Market. We’ll then drive to Vang Vieng, where we’ll arrive around mid-afternoon.
After you check in to your hotel, you can go out and see the town or relax at the hotel and watch the sunset behind the limestone mountains across the river while taking in the beautiful views.
Overnight in Vang Vieng.
We start our Vang Vieng tour in the morning by going to the famous Tham Jang caves. These caves were once used by the local people to hide from Chinese invaders. Then we go across the river to Ban Huai Ngai, where we can walk around and watch the locals lead their daily lives.
At the Organic Farm, you can see goats, pigs, and other animals. You can also watch mud bricks being made and try roasted goat cheese and mulberry wine. After lunch, we’ll head south to Vientiane. We’ll get there before evening. Stay in Vientiane for the night.
On the city tour this morning, you’ll get to see the most important temples in Vientiane, like the oldest, Wat Sisaket, which has thousands of small small Buddha statues, and the former royal temple Wat Prakeo, which used to hold the famous Emerald Buddha Image.
We also go to the That Luang Stupa, which is a symbol of Laos. On the way, we stop to take pictures of the impressive Patuxay Monument, which is Vientiane’s version of the Arc de Triomphe.
In the afternoon, you are free to look around the city, go shopping, walk along the water, or just hang out at the hotel.

We leave early this morning to go to the airport and catch a flight to Pakse.
When we get to Pakse, we drive south to Champassak to see the interesting pre-Angkorian ruins of Wat Phu, which is one of the most spectacularly placed temples in Southeast Asia. We have time to look around these interesting Khmer ruins at the foot of Mount Phu Kao.
After lunch, we drive and take a long-tail boat to Khone Island in the 4000 Islands area, where you can spend the rest of the day relaxing. Stay the nights on Khone Island.
After a quick breakfast, we head out to see Khone Island. Here, we start by retracing the French colonial past at Ban Khone, where some old colonial houses still stand and you can see the first Lao railway with its own locomotive.
We keep exploring the area of the 4000 islands by boat and go to the beautiful Liphi waterfall, also called the Samphamith, which is a natural border between Laos and Cambodia.
We go back to Ban Nakasang and take a car to the famous Khone Phapeng waterfall, which is the largest waterfall in South East Asia and is also called the “Niagara of the East.”
Stay on Khone Island for the night.
This morning, we leave Khone Island and travel to the Bolaven Plateau, which is in the mountain ranges and has a cool climate.
The area is known for its many waterfalls, and we will visit two of the best: Tad Fan, with its impressive twin falls that drop over 100 meters to the valley floor below, and Tad Ngeuan, with its clean pools where you can cool off and a coffee shop and plantation where you can try some real Lao coffee.
On the way back to Pakse in the late afternoon, you will see how coffee, tea, cardamom, bananas, and other crops are grown in the rich soil of the area.
Overnight in Pakse.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Pakse Airport for your departure flight.
