After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, your 2nd day in Angkor 4 days itinerary begins with the exploration of Angkor Thom, the magnificent Great City. As you arrive at the south gate of Angkor Thom, take a moment to capture the breathtaking scenery of the churning sea of milk depicted in the entrance’s intricate carvings. Then, you’ll head to the renowned Bayon, an architecture containing 54 towers adorned with enigmatic and colossal faces representing universal love, boundless compassion, sympathy, and equality. Next, you’ll discover the Baphuon, a three-story pyramid that serves as a significant site for the EFEO. Explore the grandeur of the Royal Palace, and admire the exquisitely carved apsaras showcased on the terrace of the Leper King. Afterward, you’ll traverse the magnificent Terrace of the Elephant, once the stage for majestic royal audiences and public ceremonies. Finally, you’ll visit Ta Prohm, a temple nestled in a forested thicket, originally discovered in 1860 by the French explorer, Henri Mouhot.
In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to visit the famous temple of Angkor Wat, recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Bult in the 12th century in honor of the god Vishnu, Angkor Wat stands out for its fame and majesty unmatched among all other temples. The next stop in your Angkor 4 days tour is Kbal Spean. After breakfast, your guide will pick you up at the hotel to start a short round trip to Kbal Spean, also known as the “river of a thousand linga,” located 49 kilometers north of Angkor. The cascading waters of Kbal Spean were once the lifeblood of Angkor, nourishing the ancient city’s rice fields. Within the riverbed, the Khmer people skillfully carved images of Shiva and stone squares, which were used to bless the flowing waters before they reached the Royal City. This remarkable site was discovered in 1968 by the Ariège ethnologist Jean Boulbet, and now you have the opportunity to follow in his footsteps as you wander along the verdant riverbanks.
Your journey continues to the mythical Banteay Srei, often known as the “citadel of women.” This enchanting temple, crafted from pink sandstone, is adorned with intricately carved embellishments that have remarkably withstood the test of time.
In the afternoon, along the way back to Siem Reap, you’ll take a moment to visit the Cambodian palm sugar factory. Coming here, you can gain insights into the traditional process of producing palm sugar. Then, you will have the opportunity to explore the picturesque temple of Banteay Samre, affectionately known as the “Miniature Angkor Wat“. As the day comes to a close, indulge in a delightful dinner before retiring for the night at your hotel.

After enjoying breakfast, embark on a journey to the captivating village of Kompong Klieng, situated approximately 50 kilometers away from Siem Reap. This village, home to around ten thousand inhabitants, relies predominantly on fishing for their livelihood. Coming here, you can be enthralled when exploring the canals during the wet season or navigating the streets when the dry season prevails. During the rainy season, you can witness the houses seemingly resting on the lake. However, as the dry season starts, a unique landscape of towering wooden structures emerges, reminiscent of skyscrapers. Then, you’ll have a chance to visit a temple that has been built on the site of an ancient temple.
Continuing your journey, you will make a stop at one of the houses in the village, where you will have the unique opportunity to delve deeper into the lives of the local fishermen of the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia.
