In the afternoon, you will join a sightseeing tour of this sacred city. Our visits include Wat Visoun, a 16th-century temple housing a collection of religious artifacts; Wat Aham, an early 19th-century temple guarded by figures from the Ramayana; and Wat Xiengthong, a temple exemplifying the exquisite architecture of Luang Prabang.
The tour culminates with a climb up the 328 steps of Phousi Hill, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city from its summit.

Waking up early to join a serene morning ritual – the alms-giving ceremony. Monks, with their alms bowls, meander through the town, receiving offerings (usually sticky rice) from the locals as blessings.
Then, return to the hotel for breakfast. After that, you set off from the hotel to the boat landing for a few hours’ excursion upstream on the Mekong River. Our destination is the Pak Ou Caves, set on a limestone cliff at the confluence of the Mekong and Ou rivers. These caves are famed for housing thousands of Buddha statues, varying in size from a few centimeters to two meters. Along the way, the lush foliage partially conceals typical Lao villages, with slender canoes and fishing markers dotting the riverbanks. We’ll make a stop at Ban Muangkeo, known for its traditional Lao rice whisky, Laoh-Khao, where we’ll have the opportunity to sample and even take some with us. A delightful lunch awaits at a riverside restaurant.
In the late afternoon, we return to Luang Prabang and drive to the outskirts to visit Ban Xangkhong. This village is renowned for its traditional wood paper making and Lao silk weavings, beautifully colored with natural dyes.

After breakfast at the hotel, we embark on a scenic 30 km drive south to the Kuangsi Waterfall. This waterfall, while not particularly high, is stunningly beautiful, set amidst the lush greenery of a preserved national park. Along the way, we’ll make stops to explore the local flavors at Talad Phosy, a market known for its fresh produce.
We’ll also visit Ban Na Oune, a small village inhabited by the Hmong people, one of Laos’s best-known hill tribes. Close to Kuangsi Waterfall, we’ll explore another village, Ban Tha Pane, home to the Khmu minority group. A delightful picnic lunch awaits us in the shaded park near the waterfall, where you’ll have ample time to relax and enjoy a refreshing swim in the cool waters.
Later in the afternoon, we return to Luang Prabang and spend the remainder of the day visiting various craft shops in town, including silver smiths and the Hmong market, where you can admire the intricate embroidery work of the Hmong women.

After breakfast, we set off on a picturesque drive to Xieng Khouang, renowned for the incredible Plain of Jars.
As we journey through regions of high mountains and striking karst formations, we’ll take the opportunity to pause and briefly explore remote villages inhabited by ethnic minorities. During these visits, you may observe that many homes feature looms beneath them, a testament to the local tradition of weaving their clothes, bags, and accessories.
By late afternoon, we will reach Phonsavan, the provincial capital of Xieng Khouang, marking the end of our scenic drive for the day.

After breakfast, we’ll embark on a picturesque drive to Vientiane, the tranquil capital of Laos, nestled along the banks of the majestic Mekong River.
In the afternoon, our exploration of Vientiane begins. We’ll visit the historic Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple in Vientiane that survived the Siamese war of 1828, renowned for its cloister housing over 8000 Buddha statues. Next, we explore Wat Ho Pra Keo, once the home of the Emerald Buddha statue, now a museum showcasing a collection of Buddha statues and artifacts from around Vientiane.
We’ll also visit That Luang Stupa, the most significant monument in Laos, believed to enshrine a relic of the Buddha, and the Patuxay Monument (Arch de Triumph), a modern landmark commemorating those lost in past wars.
Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. Free for dinner and overnight at the hotel in Vientiane.
