Spend a full day exploring the Angkor temples. Start at the stunning South Gate of Angkor Thom, then move on to the Bayon Temple, famous for its 54 towers adorned with large, serene faces carved in relief. Continue to Baphoun Temple, which symbolizes the mythical Mount Meru and features intricate bas-relief depictions of apsaras (divine nymphs). Next, take in the Terrace of the Leper Kings and the Terrace of Elephants, and visit the Royal Bathing Pool of Sra Srang.

In the afternoon, explore the notable temples of the “Grand Circuit” outside of Angkor Thom. Begin at Preah Khan, noted for its massive stone garudas on the walls. Next, visit Ta Som, renowned for its well-preserved towers featuring images of Avalokiteshvara and a distinctive eastern gate engulfed by a strangler fig.
Continue to Eastern Mebon, guarded by life-sized elephant statues, and conclude at the pyramid-shaped Pre Rup, approached via a lion-guarded staircase.

Wake up early today to admire a breathtaking sunrise over Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world, from the vantage point of the reflecting pond. After the sunrise, take your time to explore the temple’s extensive carvings, including over 3,000 depictions of apsaras.
After that, return to your hotel for a late breakfast and then set out through the picturesque Cambodian countryside to Banteay Srei. This well-preserved pink sandstone temple is dedicated to Shiva and is adorned with intricate carvings that illustrate scenes from the Ramayana.
Stop at a nearby village for lunch with traditional nam ben chok rice noodles.
In the afternoon, on your way back to Siem Reap, stop at the APOPO Visitor Centre. There, you’ll meet the “HeroRATS,” giant African rats trained to detect landmines that are still scattered throughout Cambodia’s fields. Learn about the training processes and see a demonstration of a HeroRAT in action.
The remainder of the afternoon and evening is yours to enjoy Siem Reap at your own pace.

Leave Siem Reap for Tonlé Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, famous for its “floating villages” like Kompong Khleang. Here, you’ll get a glimpse of the local lifestyle before enjoying lunch in a traditional wooden house. Your journey continues to Kampong Kdei to see the ancient Spean Praptos Bridge, the world’s largest corbelled stone-arch bridge, adorned with sculptures of nine-headed nagas (mythical creatures that are part human and part cobra).
Your next stop is the quaint town of Skuon, where the more adventurous might sample the local specialty – deep-fried tarantulas – at the town market.
Later in the afternoon, you’ll arrive in Phnom Penh, the capital city. After checking into your hotel, the evening is yours to enjoy.

This morning, explore the Royal Palace complex in Phnom Penh, which was constructed in 1866 by King Norodom. Noteworthy within the complex is the Silver Pagoda, so named for its 5,000 silver floor tiles. Make sure to see the life-sized gold Maitreya Buddha, adorned with over 2,000 diamonds. Following this, visit the National Museum where you’ll find an impressive collection of Khmer sculptures and pre-Angkorian artifacts.
After immersing yourself in history, have lunch at the vibrant Central Market, an art deco structure built in 1937 with a striking domed roof and various stalls.
In the afternoon, the Champey Academy of Arts awaits you. This art school, run by the local Kasumisou Foundation NGO, focuses on uplifting disadvantaged children by teaching them traditional Cambodian arts. Here, you will be treated to a performance of classical Apsara dancing.

Today, embark on a delightful and easy bicycle tour around the Kampot countryside with an expert guide. Venture into the rice paddies where you’ll learn about rice production and the making of rice noodles and cakes. You’ll even have the opportunity to try making the noodles yourself!
The afternoon is yours to explore Kampot at your leisure, perhaps visiting the local market, a hub for durian vendors.

This morning, take a brief journey inland to La Plantation, a renowned spice plantation in Kampot, celebrated for its extensive pepper production. During your visit, explore the grounds and learn about the cultivation of various aromatic plants including chilies, ginger, and peppercorns in shades of green, black, white, and red. Enjoy a scenic ride through the local countryside in a thatched cart pulled by water buffalo, including a visit to Secret Lake, a favorite spot for the buffalo to bathe.
After enjoying lunch at the plantation, return through Kampot to Kep for a two-night stay. Check in to the hotel in Kep and enjoy your free time.

After breakfast, make your way to Kep’s vibrant Crab Market, bustling with vendors offering live blue-legged crabs housed in wooden baskets along the shoreline, as well as a variety of prawns, squid, and freshly caught fish.
Next, head to the pier and board a local boat for a trip to Koh Tonsai – also known as Rabbit Island. This tranquil, beach-lined island is perfect for spending a few hours sunning, snorkeling, or lounging in a hammock tied between palm trees. Alternatively, you can explore the island’s perimeter via a narrow hiking trail.
Enjoy a seafood BBQ lunch on the island and take some time to unwind before heading back to Kep by boat in mid-afternoon.
