Chiang Mai has always been a tourist destination, attracting many domestic and foreign tourists to explore Northern Thailand. Along with the Chiang Mai 5 days tour, you’ll visit historic temples to discover some of the country’s most sacred and important sites, then head to the markets to taste flavorful local dishes. You’ll also get the chance to escape the bustle of the city, where you’ll meet local hill tribes as you explore lush rice fields, traditional villages, and orchid farms filled with colors in Chiang Mai.
To start your Chiang Mai 5 days tour, a private car will be waiting to escort you to your accommodation in the city. Located in the North of Thailand, Chiang Mai is considered the cultural capital of the country, famous for its cool climate, mountain scenery, and fresh air. After a short resting at your hotel, you’ll be able to spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the scenic Old Town or strolling through the town area’s remarkable selection of notable temples.
If you want to see the sunset in Chiang Mai, catch a cab to the hillside Doi Suthep temple, where you can climb the temple’s iconic 306-step staircase. The temple’s stairs are specially designed with carved sea serpents and a thick forest. After going up all the steps, there will be an elaborately built ground with a huge golden stupa (stupa) and a sweeping view of the sunset.
In the evening, you should visit the street food stalls and restaurants, where you can taste delicious local food like khao soi (coconut curry soup) and other northern Thai specialties.
On the second day of your 5-day Chiang Mai tour, you’ll explore some of Chiang Mai’s most revered temples. All were built during the Lanna period (13th to 18th centuries). A special feature of each building is that it symbolizes the glory, splendor, and nobility of a rich historical era.
Located in the downtown area, Wat Phra Singh was first built during the reign of Phra Chao Kham Fu. You’ll find intricate gilded architecture and one of Thailand’s most sacred Buddha images. Right in the heart of the city is Wat Chedi Luang, famous for its soaring 15th-century stupa surrounded by elephant statues. Then, transfer to Wat Chiang Man. Located to the north of the old city, it is the oldest temple in Chiang Mai and is said to predate the city.
After a morning at the temples, you’ll drive with your guide around the old city to see the moat and ruins of the city gates. Then visit Worarot Market, the town’s largest central market, which comes alive with the bustle of everyday life. Here you will find fresh fruits, preserved foods, local specialties, rich clothes, flowers, and other sundries, all at reasonable prices.
On the 3rd day of the Chiang Mai 5 days tour, you should take your time to explore 14th-century Wat Prathat Doi Suthep. This is Chiang Mai’s most famous and important temple because it houses the relics of the Buddha, enshrined in the magnificent golden temple that can be seen from miles away.
Your tour begins with a pleasant, winding at 3,500 ft (1,066 m) above sea level to the sacred Doi Suthep temple. Make offerings to local monks (make merit for good karma), then go up 306 steps to reach the temple gate, guarded by two splendid snakes. Besides, there are countless unique sculptures around the temple grounds. You will admire golden pillars, 6-foot-high gongs and rows of bells. At the same time, thanks to the temple’s prime location, you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the city and surrounding countryside.
The final day of the Chiang Mai tour will begin with a scenic trip to the northern of Chiang Mai. Here, you will have a chance to visit the hill tribe village of Baan Hui Parai, where you can walk along a narrow path through rice fields and meet members of the local hill tribe in their traditional dress.
After leaving the village, you’ll head to a local orchid and butterfly farm to see rare orchids in bloom in a variety of vibrant colors. In the afternoon, you will return to Chiang Mai to enjoy the last night of the trip.
On the last day of Chiang Mai 5 days tour, you can go sightseeing in the town center and save memorable pictures. Your driver will transfer you from your hotel to the Chiang Mai International Airport for your departing flight. End of Chiang Mai tour with safe travels home or to your next destination!
