Highlights

  • Spend an afternoon touring the temple city of Bagan by bike. It’s a fantastic way to see the thousands of spectacular temples, stupas, and pagodas during your Myanmar tour packages.
  • Join a cooking class on Burmese cuisine as you stock up on ingredients from the market, cook, and then feast on the results.
  • Enjoy an action-packed activity program in Mandalay. Visit the magnificent Mandalay Palace, a local village, and monastery, and see the hilltop pagodas of Sagaing.
  • Explore Inle Lake on a leisurely canoe trip, followed by a boat trip to its floating islands and local village industries.
  • Be dazzled by the Shwedagon Pagoda at sunset. The jewel in Myanmar’s religious crown comes to life at dusk, with thousands of sparkling diamonds on its golden stupa.

Tips

  • The ideal time for Myanmar tours is during the cool season, between October and February when the rains are least and temperatures are most moderate.
  • A visa is required to enter Myanmar unless you are a citizen of Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, Cambodia, or Laos.
  • Contrary to what you might assume, Myanmar is not a cheap destination partly due to a shortage of supplies.
  • Shaking hands is not the way Burmese people greet each other since they avoid physical contact. What they do is tilt their heads slightly or just smile.
  • You must use both hands whether you are giving or receiving something.
  • You are supposed to remove your shoes and socks before entering a temple.
  • Myanmar is a socially conservative country, so don’t show affection in public.

Essential Information to Know before Visiting Myanmar

When is the Best Time to Visit Myanmar?

Myanmar exhibits a tropical monsoon climate characterized by three distinct seasons: cool, hot, and rainy. The rainy season spans from June to October, with the heaviest and most consistent rainfall occurring from June to August. From March to May, the hot season prevails, bringing average temperatures around 100°F. The cool season, spanning from November to February, offers the most pleasant weather and is highly favored by visitors. However, it is also the peak tourist season in Myanmar.

What to Pack for Myanmar Classic Tours?

No matter when you plan to visit, expect Myanmar to be hot and humid. It is recommended to pack lightweight and breathable clothing that covers your shoulders and knees to ensure easy entry into the pagodas. Additionally, both Burmese men and women commonly wear “longyis,” which are essentially floor-length skirts. To avoid drawing attention, women can opt to cover their shoulders and dress modestly.

How to Get To and Around Myanmar?

Most likely, you will arrive in Yangon to embark on your Myanmar tours. Although Mandalay also has an international airport, it is smaller in size, and flights are generally pricier.

If you are short on time, domestic flights offer a convenient and cost-effective means of transportation. While bus services have improved over time, identifying true “VIP” buses can be challenging. It is advisable to book directly at the bus station to ensure a comfortable journey. This way, you can confirm the presence of air conditioning and avoid situations where stools are placed in the aisles to accommodate more passengers.

Myanmar Travel Budget

Over time, the tourism infrastructure in Myanmar has witnessed significant growth, offering a wide range of options to accommodate various budgets. You can discover an array of food and hotel choices that suit your preferences.

From basic and modest accommodations with no-frills rooms starting at $20 USD per night to luxurious resorts surpassing $100 USD per night, there is something for every traveler. Likewise, when it comes to dining, you have the flexibility to opt for affordable street food, costing less than $10 USD per day. Alternatively, there are upscale restaurants that cater to foreigners, providing a more expensive dining experience.

It was a lot of fun to visit both countries! I wish i had more time to spend, but the itinerary IDC provided did ensure me the best experience in both Thai and Cambodia in such a short time. Food and accommodations were all amazing, especially at Phuket. Thank you Alex for the great help!

Food lover paradise!!

As a spicy lover i was so excited to try out Thai cuisine for the first time! Amazing flavors really, we were advised to spend time in local markets and sample various street foods, and it did not disappoint. One of my kids cant eat spicy food but she loves Thai desserts, i'd say there is something for everyone here. Love that IDC Travel included a Thai cooking class in the tour as well, being able to understand the ingredients and recipes behind the flavor we eat was a lot of fun to me. Of course the hotels and service are great too, much love to the IDC team for planning this trip for me!! :D

My friend and I are foodie travelers, so we decided to book this tour with the desire to explore the Southeast Asia culinary scene, and this tour was absolutely beyond our expectations. Both Thai and Vietnamese cuisine are great, from their look to flavor. In each destination, we tried some food, and all of them were so excellent that they awakened our taste buds. Thank you IDC Travel for guiding us to the popular food spots and supporting us during our trip! Would definitely use their service in the future!!!

This is our very first time traveling to Thailand and it was an unforgettable escape. Thailand beaches were so lively, and Phang Nga Bay amazed us with its dramatic limestone cliffs and emerald waters, especially during a scenic boat tour. This is truly a must-visit for nature lovers and beach enthusiasts!

Our 10-day trip from Chiang Mai to Phuket was an amazing experience, thanks to IDC Travel. In Chiang Mai, we explored beautiful temples, visited an ethnic elephant sanctuary, and enjoyed the lively night markets. Then, off to Phuket, where we relaxed on stunning beaches, took a breathtaking Phi Phi Islands tour, and indulged in delicious Thai food. The itinerary was well organized, and our guide made every moment so special. Highly recommend this trip for anyone visiting Thailand!

My friends and I decided to take this trip to Thailand, and it was so fascinating. We have never visited a floating market like Famnoen Saduak, so this was so exciting to experience the vibrant atmosphere. The Grand Palace left us in awe with its intricate architecture and rich history. Then, the cruise on the Chao Phraya River gave us a unique and romantic view of Bangkok. Big thanks to our guide for making the trip smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour for first-time travellers to Thailand!
