Drive to Ha Giang, a region in Vietnam’s far north. Your path will take you through rugged terrain and breathtaking surroundings. When you arrive at Tuyen Quang, you’ll see the 15th-century Mac Dynasty Citadel and a surrounding market.
You will spend the night in a tiny town in Ha Giang after lunch at a local restaurant. You’ll arrive and check in on time, or you’ll explore the adjacent tranquil villages.
After breakfast, you’ll go to the little villages of Quan Ba, Yen Minh, and Dong Van, which are among the most scenic in Vietnam’s northern tip.
Following lunch, travel a picturesque road to the Ma Pi Leng Pass, from which you may enjoy a panoramic view of the Nho Que River. You could see one of the northeast’s spectacular sunsets.
Finally, after a long day, you’ll arrive in the late afternoon at Meo Vac, where you’ll spend the night.
After breakfast and a quick visit to Meo Vac’s local market, you’ll take a different picturesque route back to Yen Minh and then to Bac Me in Cao Bang Province.
Lunch will be provided for you at a local restaurant in Quan Ba Town. From there, you’ll return to Ha Giang and then to Bac Me, where you’ll arrive in the afternoon. You may go on a brief visit to a neighboring Tay ethnic minority community on the outskirts of town to discover how the locals live. Return to Bac Me town and spend the night.
A morning trip will take you via three mountain passes. The view is breathtaking, and the route runs along the mountain slopes.
You’ll stop for lunch in a small town before arriving in Cao Bang in the afternoon to check into a hotel.
After breakfast, you’ll travel 85 kilometers from Cao Bang to the Ban Gioc Waterfall on the China-Vietnam border, passing through beautiful countryside along the way.
Ban Gioc is one of Vietnam’s largest and arguably most stunning waterfalls.
After a picnic lunch, you’ll explore Nguom Ngao, one of the area’s biggest caverns. It contains several intriguing stalactite forms and formations.
You’ll then return to Cao Bang with time to rest before supper and your overnight stay.
You’ll return to Hanoi in the morning along a route that takes you through ancient passes to Lang Son. It includes a stop along the way to visit a local market in the city center and roam about this border city.
Lunch will be served at a local eatery in Lang Son.
After lunch, the travel back to Hanoi will take around two and a half hours.
