Tra Que Village is a tiny yet significant village located approximately 15 minutes outside of Hoi An. It delivers organic veggies to the entire city of Hoi An and its nearby areas! What distinguishes Tra Que Village is how the veggies are grown: no fertilizer or chemicals are used; instead, a unique algae found only in this location is used.
Tra Que is a beautiful little town on the outskirts of Hoi An, famous for its sweet-scented and fresh vegetables that spice up Hoi An residents’ regular meals: Cao Lau and Quang noodles. Come here to learn how to nurture and water plants, as well as to sample and participate in a culinary session with local dishes prepared by a gracious host.
Following breakfast at your accommodation, it’s time for some exercise, a bike ride to Tra Que Village, and a visit to a nearby farm. This is a truly unique opportunity to experience authentic rural Vietnamese living.
After learning about the village’s past, you will be taught the everyday procedures for cultivating vegetables. You can discover how the veggies are utilized in traditional Vietnamese medicine. You’ll participate in the farming tasks of gathering seaweed fertilizer, planting, raking, watering, and picking.
As you assist the family in preparing and eating the meal you helped raise, you continue to get immersed in their culture. You will also sample more regional delicacies including Tam huu (spring rolls) and Banh xeo (pancake).
Of course you have to take part in the snooze after lunch as well before heading back to the fiel to learn how to gather and package the vegetables. We say farewell to your new friends about midday and return to your accommodation in Hoian for some downtime. This tour has come to an end.
