Cycling is one of the best ways to explore rural Vietnamese life. Admire the beautiful scenery and explore the simple life of local people in Hoian by this Hoi An bicycle tour. Its building and its street plan reflects the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site. Riding through the countryside to Tra Que vegetable village, where we met the locals who were working on their herb and vegetable gardens, and experienced the day in the life of a farmer by participating in agricultural activities such as hoeing soil, collecting seaweed from the river, and transplanting and watering the vegetables. 8.30 a.m.: Our tour guide will greet you at the hotel and we will go through a brief bicycle proficiency test. Other modes of transportation can be available for anyone who are uncomfortable riding a pushbike. The excursion begins by riding via easy terrain to the Thu Bon River, where you will visit a traditional fishing town.
Ride around country lanes at a leisurely speed, taking in the scenery and pausing to witness farmers toiling in their rice fields, employing centuries-old farming techniques. Peddle your way through palm groves, bridges, and water buffalo fields….
Take a short break with a local family in Cam Thanh Village before embarking on a 1.5-hour round-trip ride in a traditional basket boat (round boat) through the Water Coconut Palm Forest. Learn to sail the basket boat and spend your time in the Canal catching fish and “purple crabs.”
We continue cycling to Tra Que Organic Vegetable Village, where a wide range of vegetables are grown for the local population. At the village, you will be taught ecologically friendly ways that local people have utilized for generations and that are still widely employed today.
Visit a local family and after a short, informative and fun cooking lesson, we sit down for a delicious lunch.
After lunch, we will take a short boat trip along the river from the local ferry boat to Kim Bong Wood Carving village where you visit a traditional ship building yard. Begin a leisurely ride through the beautiful countryside, stopping for photographs and refreshments as you please.
Spend a relaxing hour gazing at authentic Vietnamese river life on our way back to Hoi An
